A taste of nature’s healthy essence in the form of teas.
You’re probably thinking that you’ve heard or seen all of this before, the seemingly organic content that devolves into a pitch in the middle or a less subtle piece that tries selling right at the beginning. Well, you’re not quite wrong if that’s what you’re thinking. The only difference is that, we won’t try selling at all. All we ask is you try our products and be the judge yourself.
The following teas are our answer to the glorified water and food coloring that others are selling as healthy tea.
DeLite Herbal Tea Ampalaya
Whereas Filipino cuisine is not something that many people, Filipinos included, swear to, traditional Filipino medicine is an altogether different breed. The power of herbal medicine in the Philippines is something that almost everyone universally agrees on, using the plethora of medicinal herbs and plants in the archipelago as natural treatment for various complications.
One of the most prevalent diseases in the Philippines is diabetes. Approximately 6% of the total population, or 6 million people, have been diagnosed with diabetes. This version of DeLite combines the power of the superfood bitter gourd with green tea, Citrus Microcarpa (Calamansi), turmeric, and Lagerstroemia Speciosa to create a tea that can help lower your blood sugar level. The reason for this lies in the bitter gourd itself. It contains a compound, polypeptide-p (plant insulin) that naturally lowers blood sugar.
Adding to the anti-diabetic properties of this tea are its two other ingredients: Lagerstroemia Speciosa and Turmeric. The first contains corosolic acid, an active ingredient that helps lower the glucose level of the body whereas the latter has curcumin, a powerful agent that can also aid in managing the body’s blood glucose.
DeLite Herbal Tea Turmeric-Ginger
The medicinal value of turmeric is not really new knowledge. For thousands of years, Indians used this herb as spice for their cuisine and traditional treatment for gastrointestinal and skin conditions. It is also them, Indians, that provide as much as 78% of the world’s turmeric supply.
Health benefits of turmeric include anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. It can also boost the immune system, helps reduce cardiovascular complications, and may even help prevent and treat cancer.
You can take capsules that contain turmeric extracts to get the medicinal benefits of this fab spice, or even better, take turmeric tea. The compound in turmeric that causes all these health qualities, curcumin, has low bioavailability – meaning it is a bit harder for the body to access and absorb. Supplements and tea make it easier for the body to take advantage of turmeric’s medicinal capabilities.
Enter DeLite Herbal Tea Turmeric-Ginger. The spicy tang of turmeric is tempered by the natural citrus flavor of calamondin and tamarind. Like the ampalaya and salabat variant, this tea contains no preservatives, calories, and sugar.
DeLite Herbal Tea Salabat
Among the three variants of DeLite, Salabat is probably the most traditionally Filipino of the bunch. This is the ginger tea almost every Filipino is familiar with, having different versions across the archipelago. It is generally considered as traditional medicine for cough, fever, flu, and sore throat. The soothing effect is instantaneous because of its tea form.
Apart from its traditional uses, salabat is considered as medicinal because of the presence of ginger. This spice contains gingerol, a substance that has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Furthermore, it can also be used to treat nausea, muscle pain, soreness, and osteoarthritis. New studies are also suggesting that ginger has anti-diabetic properties.
While salabat is generally spicy because of the ginger, this is tempered by calamondin fruit and the presence of two soothing oils: peppermint and eucalyptus.
Is Your Tea All-Natural?
In a world obsessed with getting healthy, all-natural teas that have no preservatives or the sort of artificial perversion that manufacturers add for the sake of flavor, are much sought-after. While overuse has made the terms “natural” and “organic” as little more than marketing terms, you can still beat dishonest marketeers at their own game by simply looking at the Nutrition Pacts table and Ingredients part of a product’s packaging. By law, they’re required to state EVERYTHING there.
Fat, calories, and carbohydrates are easy to spot. The trickier one is sugar. Manufacturers try their hardest to hide this sweet compound, using different names to fool health-conscious but ill-researched people. Be on the lookout for glucose, fructose, maltose, invert sugar, fruit juice concentrates, malt syrup, etc. These are all sugar. A damper on the all-natural tag, right?
Unlike these teas, DeLite Herbal Tea contains absolutely zero sugar and other food preservatives that add unnecessary chemicals to an otherwise refreshing drink. DeLite has no need of those. It is healthy and DELITE-ful enough. 😀
